FAQ

Common questions, answered

Everything travellers usually ask us before booking a private trip to Morocco. Don't see yours? Just ask.

Are your tours really private?

Yes. Every tour and day trip we run is for your group only — your own driver-guide and vehicle, with no strangers joining. The itinerary is built around you and can be changed as you go.

How much does a private Morocco tour cost?

It depends on the length of the trip, the time of year, the standard of accommodation and the size of your group — a private trip for two costs more per person than the same trip for four. Send us your dates and what you have in mind and we will send a detailed quote, usually within a few hours.

What is included in the price?

Private air-conditioned transport with a professional driver, licensed local guides for the city visits, accommodation in riads, hotels or a desert camp, daily breakfast, the camel trek in the Sahara, and airport transfers. International flights, travel insurance, most lunches and dinners, entrance fees and tips are not included. Every quote lists exactly what is covered.

How far in advance should I book?

The earlier the better for spring and autumn, which are the busiest seasons — a few months ahead is ideal. We can often arrange trips at shorter notice, so it is always worth asking.

Can the itinerary be changed?

Yes. The day-by-day plans on this site are starting points. We adjust the route, the pace and the stops to your interests before you travel, and your guide can change things on the day.

Which city should we fly into?

Marrakech and Fes both have international airports and work well as a starting point for a tour. Casablanca has the largest airport and is a good choice if you also want to see the Atlantic coast, and Tangier is a good option if you'd like to start in the north with Chefchaouen and the Rif. We can begin a tour from any of the four.

Is it safe to travel in Morocco?

Morocco is one of the safest countries in the region for visitors, and travelling with a local guide removes most of the friction. Our drivers and vehicles are licensed and insured, and we are reachable seven days a week while you are travelling.

What languages do your guides speak?

Our team speaks English, French, Spanish and Arabic, as well as Amazigh (Berber). Let us know your preferred language when you enquire.

What should I pack for the desert?

Light, breathable clothes for the day and a warm layer for the evening — desert nights are cold, even in summer. Bring a hat, sunglasses, sunscreen, comfortable closed shoes and a scarf for the dunes. You can leave a bag at your hotel and travel light to the camp.

Do you arrange trips for families and larger groups?

Yes. We run trips for couples, families with children, groups of friends and small private groups, with the right vehicle for the group size. Tell us how many you are and we will plan around it.

How many days do I need for a Morocco tour?

It depends on what you want to see. A short 2 to 3 day trip is enough for a taste of the desert or the Atlas Mountains from Marrakech or Fes. For the Sahara plus the imperial cities, most travellers take 5 to 7 days. If you want to see the north, the desert, the kasbah valleys and the coast in one trip, our longer routes run 8 to 12 days. We have itineraries at every length from 2 to 12 days and can adjust any of them to fit the time you have.

What's the difference between the Merzouga and Zagora desert tours?

Both reach real Sahara dunes with a camel trek and a night at a desert camp, but by different roads. Merzouga (the Erg Chebbi dunes) is the classic route from Fes or Marrakech via the Dades and Todra gorges, and has the tallest dunes. Zagora, reached via the Draa Valley's palm oases, is a shorter drive from Marrakech and a good option if you are tighter on time. We can advise which suits your route better once we know your dates.

Do you offer day trips as well as multi-day tours?

Yes. Alongside our multi-day private tours, we run single-day trips from Marrakech and Fes to places like the Atlas Mountains, Ouzoud Falls, Essaouira, Meknes, Volubilis and the edge of the Sahara — useful if you only have a day to spare, or want to add one on either side of a multi-day itinerary.

Can a tour start in one city and end in another?

Yes, and most of our multi-day tours are built this way on purpose — for example Fes to Marrakech, or Tangier to Marrakech — so you see new ground each day instead of retracing the same road. We can also arrange a round trip back to your starting city if you would prefer that.
